January 28, 2005

Can't really tell you what I've been up to all afternoon because I think some people (The Suz) wouldn't appreciate it. Suffice to say that while my work is actually real estate related, it is less than enthralling and is giving me flashbacks to my oh-so-utterly painful real estate licensing class. (The Smiths purchased their home in 1998 for $350,000. They lived in the home for three years. They sold the home again in 2001 for $500,000. If the Smiths filed a joint tax return, what amount of tax is due from the gain on this sale?) Excuse me, but it was my understanding there would be NO MATH. I am not qualified for this, even if I have a license that says so.

If the weather wasn't such crap, I'd be doing this at Starbucks...or maybe on the beach...? but now I'm just stuck at my desk, high-school style, wondering why, oh why, I still can't find half the songs that were on my iPod and why it refuses to upload any of my 2Pac...Not Amused doesn't even begin to describe it. Silver lining is that it is finally frickin' Friday. The rain must stop, though, or Friday night will be spent indoors/at the movies and the prospect brings me pain. Maybe Anne Laure will see "Hide and Seek" with me? Nope, that trick is going to see Seinfeld. Newman!

January 27, 2005

Yesterday was just one of those days that make you glad you don't live in Nebraska, Oklahoma, DC or New York. Okay, just kidding, I'm always glad I don't live in NE or OK. Those places are NEver OK. Ha. Sometimes NY and DC can be a good laugh (good for a laugh?), but generally just not up to par.

Anyway, the best part of the day started, as usual, after 5:00 PM when I headed down to the sailing club (posh) to meet up with Cap'n Chris, First Mate Soren and those without titles (Georgie, Henry and Jordan...so due for a promotion) to check out the sunset from the bay. Loaded with Bushmills, Miller Lite, Fattyweiser, Grilled Cheese Crackers and some other stuff, we drifted from Coconut Grove over to Key Biscayne in time to watch the moon rise over Crandon Park. I've got to say, though, was a little nervy about being out there at first having just watched "Open Water" and not necessarily wanting to end up marooned and eaten by sharks, barracudas, manta rays, remora fish, etc. Good thing I was tuff, though, because it was unbelievable -- the moon was huge and orange and rose in 8 minutes (we timed it very scientifically) over glass-water. Wrapped up the adventure with a half a rack & wings at Scotty's. Mmmmmmmm.

Today has been a little less magical, but not to say not fabulous. Still waiting to whoop Marce in Scrabble upon her return from "lunch" (the only person I know who considers lunch to be 45 minutes on the treadmill). Other than that, it's just sell, sell, sell and sell. Sell. Also, to switch things up today, I decided only to write in green ink. I know, I'm crazy. Will Magsie convince me to go to West Palm tonight? It's a nail-biter....

Quel matin horrible! Woke up on the later side of 9:00 this morning and hauled it into work only to find that The Suz was picking me up at 9:25, expecting me with brochures in hand. Go to our showing appointment (Gables to Pinecrest) and realize my key doesn't work in the door...Pinecrest to Gables...and back...and half an hour later back in Devonwood with another key...that still doesn't work. Clients = not happy at all. The Suz and The Jill booked it to the Grove to meet with Handyman and then rushed all the way back to Pinecrest for a walk-through. Whew! Braved the Pier One parking lot for Chicken Grill (3 curry mustards) and finished off the lunch hour by snapping some pics of the Baby Marcela and other manatee-kind. Hectic afternoon followed, but am finally able to work on uploading the sealife pics & order my dad a T-Shirt or mousepad from Pixyland.org. He's going to love it.

Last night went to the Cuda and rocked the PhotoHunt machine with Al & Danny. Didn't win the bar tab but did have an impressive showing on the Beirut table. Tonight Cameron tells me I have to go out again, but I think liver needs rest. Plus, my brain hurts.
